Many people are not what they POST to be on social media and they are suffering in silence. Whether it’s a broken marriage/relationship, chronic pain, victim of abuse, addiction, feelings of rejection, depression, grieving the loss of a loved one, etc.

I’m not suggesting people need to go on social media to announce their hurts, pains, and struggles. But, because we see the glamorized posts, sometimes we don’t pick up the phone to check on one another.

Sure we live busy lives with work, relationships, children and more so we can’t do it all the time.

So, I challenge you to check on one another. Instead of clicking ‘like’ on a post, schedule coffee or pick up the phone to see how someone else is doing. Especially during this holiday season, I’m realizing so many are hurting, grieving, and lonely for many reasons. Remember a few things:

  1. Pick up the phone to call a friend
  2. Schedule a quick meet up, coffee, or in-person visit of some sort.
  3. Send a ‘thinking of you’ card in the mail.
  4. Text a personal prayer to someone who needs to know you are covering them in prayer and not just post the prayer hands emoji.
  5. Connect Connect Connect

While social media has considerable value to helping us connect with those near and far, let’s be intentional to check on our friends and family who may be suffering in silence.
