The Dark Side of Perfectionism Sucks

perfectionism inspirational graphic. done is better than perfect.Stop chasing perfectionism.

Let’s be honest. Perfectionism is a thing, and it sucks! Of course, I know it can depend on your perspective.

We need to loosen the rules a bit and accept that being imperfectly perfect is just as good.

To anyone who feels like they are chasing perfection, I would tell you that it doesn’t exist. And it’s not worth the chase.

Perfectionism is the voice that tells you not to take chances, to play it safe, and not to dream big. It’s the voice that says, ‘There’s no room for failure here.’ That voice is wrong. Let me say that ONE MO’ TIME – that voice is wrong!

Perfectionism has never been anything other than a dream thief robbing you of happiness and life. You spend more time getting ready to take action than actually moving the needle on your goals.

Everything may take longer than you expect — be optimistic.

Whether you are writing a blog post or building your dream business, there will always be room for failure. If you want to achieve something great, you must keep pushing yourself. Stop chasing perfectionism.

Steps to Help You Kick Into Action

  • Write a list of your goals that you don’t feel you can reach in a month or a year, then strive to achieve them. (Destiny Inspired Journal on Amazon.com)
  • Set goals that are just out of reach, and you will push yourself to be better than you thought possible.
  • Create a vision/dream board with graphics and words as your visual inspirationhttps://wp.me/pay60U-cUL

Need a Maya Angelou Quote as a Pick-Me-Up?

Why not add Maya Angelou Quotes as a quick pick-me-up? Are you, too, feeling a bit overwhelmed or creatively stifled by the 24/7 discussions regarding this coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19)? Well, you’re NOT ALONE. Of course, I’m interested in the latest developments, data, press conferences, state and federal guidelines, etc. I’m simply feeling information overload. Gee whizz!

I had to stop myself from reading tons of articles and watching every press conference about this virus. It was time to fill my cup with something to ignite my creative fire.

Keep It Fresh

As a blogger who LOVES to write content, lately I’ve struggled with WHAT TO POST. Prior to all this outbreak stuff, I had pre-scheduled (automated) blogs and social media posts with interesting and funny write ups but now I decided to delay the postings. Why? My reason for delaying the posts are to be sure I’m being sensitive to those directly impacted by the outbreak in any way.

Inspirational Topics

When I have writer’s block or need added substance for a writing project, I go to YouTube or Google to search topics like inspirational leadership, journaling, self-care, mindset habits or similar keywords. Several videos gave me a little inspiration, but something I saw reminded me of a Maya Angelou quote that has consistently encouraged me over the years. The thought of this ONE particular quote is the leading inspiration behind THIS post. It was difficult to post a few Maya quotes. She left us with so much of her profound wisdom. So, I just wanted to share a few of my favorites to help fulfill your inspirational needs.

Maya Angelou’s Inspirational Quotes

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”

“Nothing will work unless you do.’

“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget HOW you made them feel.”

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”

“I’m a woman phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, that’s me.”

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

“I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.”

“Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.”

“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”

FINAL THOUGHT

We all need to be mindful of what is going on in our world to stay informed and healthy. In the midst of challenging times, let’s inspire one another to keep a positive mindset. Hopefully, these Maya Angelou quotes added a rainbow to your cloud. Do you have a favorite Maya Angelou quote?

I’m EXHAUSTED

Confession!!!!

I’m tired y’all. No for real for reeaaalll. Since the middle of December, I’ve been going 100 miles a minute. Between my full time job, running my Destiny Inspired business, raising two girls, managing my oldest daughter’s modeling, hosting events, attending/supporting other events, ghostwriting blogs for others, managing clients and more. Whewwww

Ya girl is TIRED!

I had to share that. I love posting all the great stuff, but I also love the behind the scenes.

Oftentimes people ask me how I do it all since I do way more than what is posted. The answer is that I just get it done BUT this last couple weeks, I am feeling EXHAUSTED. My 43 year old body is like HOLD UP SISTA.

So, I’m hoping my glasses make me look NOT SO EXHAUSTED. lol

This Super Mommy is Super Tired!
I will be scaling back and catching up on my nap times.

My SELF-CARE goals for this week include getting more sleep, enjoy some coloring in a coloring book and treat myself to a bouquet of flowers to celebrate ME just because.

Thank you Lord for some good restful sleep tonight to prepare for my week.

Good night peeps. May you have RESTFUL sleep too.

Are you feeling fatigue and ready to step up your self-care?

Here are a few self-care ideas:

Last week, I treated myself to a 60-minute full body massage and I will do that again soon.
Treat yourself. Love yourself.

“Incorporating a TED talk into your morning ritual or nighttime routine is a great way to get inspired.”

“TED talks are short powerful talks that often motivate viewers in some way. TED’s mission is to spread ideas through concise but powerful talks, which are usually 18 minutes or less. I was first introduced to these talks upon joining a social group at work, and I’ve been hooked ever since.”

Inspirational Quote of the Week

“How you make others feel about themselves, says a lot about you.”

“How you see others is linked to how happy, kind-hearted, and emotionally stable you are, which is why your perceptions of others reveal so much about your personality and character.”

Nothing Like a Sprinkle of Inspiration

Happy Monday!

Don’t quit your day dreams! Let me say that ONE MORE TIME for those who didn’t hear me in the back of the room. DO NOT QUIT your day dreams and Don’t Settle for less.

The RIGHT people will notice you and appreciate your talents, skills, and abilities at the RIGHT time. #DueSeason #CareerInspiration

Now that we remember what NOT to do, let’s discuss what we NEED to do:

* Take Career Risks

* Mentor & Help Others

* Each one, Teach One

* Take one step at a time to avoid feeling so overwhelmed

* Remember that it’s never too late to start fresh

Like my LinkedIN connection Brigette Hyacinth says, “Nothing can replace the human touch.” So, while you are waiting to be promoted, developing personally and professionally, etc., Please remember to CONNECT with others. #humantouch
